I too have had disk i/o problems with microport ver 2.2.  From reading
the postings so far, it seems to me that no one who has version 2.3
has experienced these problems.  Is this true?  The problems I am 
refering to are bad blocks occuring and a subsequent trashed file system.
These bad blocks are fake in that no amount of diagnostic testing can 
reveal them.   I am now rebuilding my system with the 2.3 kernal
and am hoping for the best...
