It's been done for nearly 4 months now. Foolish me; I sent it to Berkeley and they promised to send it out to ucb-fixes. Just a few weeks ago, I met with a luminary at Usenix and was told they'd made some changes and would send me the changes, and I should post them to 4bsd-bugs. But I've not heard from them since then, and yet I keep getting requests ... So look for the changes to appear in comp.bugs.4bsd as soon as I can put them in order; couple of days probably. The changes allow you to create a bootable TK50, and also a bootable disk. The bad news is that it's a chicken and egg problem: since Berkeley doesn't make TK50 distributions, you need a working TK50 to create a bootable TK50. If you have an Ultrix machine already, and you either have another uVax or want to change to 4.3, you can, with these changes create a 4.3 TK50. If you are looking at a cold uVax with no 9-track tape drive and nothing but a blank TK50 and a 6250 distribution tape, though, you are out of luck. Rick
