I too was frightened but I've found the solution. (And I'm still running patchlevel 2.) Via cron, I run uuhosts -unbatch, and then rebuild my pathalias database. The map information is now in a useful location and format. Next I tell expire to: expire -i -e 2 -n comp.mail.maps I ignore the expiration dates on the maps.
