Reminds me of a (possibly apocryphal) story I read about a linguist that visited a tribe in the Amazon basin. Seems they had a parrot that was the last "speaker" of the language of a vanished tribe, so no one in the village could understand what the historic bird said. Squawk squaaaaawk.
