An article on the AP wire reports that Japanese mathematician Yoichi
Miyaoka at the Max Planck Institute in Bonn has apparently proven
Fermat's Last Theorem.

[The theorem states that X^N + Y^N = Z^N, where X,Y,Z,N are all integer,
has no solutions when N is greater than 2].

I wonder what implications this might have for cryptography?
