Message-ID: <5722@ig.ig.com> Date: 1 Apr 88 23:22:49 GMT Sender: daemon@presto.ig.com Lines: 36 From: David Kristofferson XGENPUB is BIONET's sequence data annotation and submission program. The program allows you to submit annotated sequence data to the sequence databases. XGENPUB handles the details of sending the appropriate electronic mail messages for you. The XGENPUB program on BIONET now utilizes the new common data submission form which has been adopted for use by the GenBank and EMBL databases and also by the Protein Identification Resource. All three databases will receive your nucleic acid and protein sequence data via the XGENPUB program. If your nucleic acid sequence encodes a protein, please also submit the translated protein sequence via a second use of XGENPUB. For more information about the XGENPUB program see HELP XGENPUB after the @ prompt on BIONET. Use of XGENPUB gets your *annotated* data into the databases more quickly and helps to make sure that the databases are up to date. Please use this resource each time you need to submit sequence data and encourage your colleagues to do likewise. Scientists who do not have BIONET accounts may still have temporary access to the XGENPUB program by calling David Benton, GenBank Manager at IntelliGenetics. Dr. Benton's number is 415-962-7360. Sincerely, Dave Kristofferson BIONET Resource Manager kristofferson@bionet-20.arpa -------
