The T adapter needs to be directly connected to the BNC jack on the integral transciever in the computer. Not only does it violate the specification, it doesn't work at all. Generally a good, human readable, document for setting up Ethernet cables is the DEC Network Buyers Guide. I'm not recommending DEC equipment over anybody elses but the instructions for cabling and such are correct and you will not go wrong designing to their specifications. -Ron
