This was the subject of an earlier posting. Please refer to that for details. The "special issue" of the SVR that features highlights of SIGGRAPH '87 is (as someone mentioned in this news group) a departure from normal SVR issues. It was put together by some of the personnel who did the Frost and Sullivan tape on SIGGRAPH '86, but it was not done by and is in no way financially connected with Frost and Sullivan. This issue of the SVR sells for substantially more than the normal issues because the cost of production is included in the price. Normally, an issue of the SVR only includes editting and duplicating costs, because all of the production costs are borne by the submitters. In this case, live action shooting and interviews were conducted. This costs real money. The tape is priced accordingly. A few issues of the SVR will be distributed by SIGGRAPH, but most are for sale through the ACM Order Department. Arrangements might be made for bulk purchase orders, but negotiations are pending. If such arrangements are made, it is possible that these will be made through the SIGGRAPH education committee (for institutions listed in the SIGGRAPH education directory) and/or through the SIGGRAPH local groups (for SIGGRAPH local groups that have filed a viability report for 1988). Please note, however, that no such arrangements are in place at this time.
