I would like to ask the readers of this newsgroup who have had experience of implementing distributed operating systems some questions about their choice of implementation language -- Which language(s) did you use for the implementation, and why? If you used a language which is not widely available, please supply references to it. What features in the language(s) chosen *caused* implementation problems, and what were those problems? What features in the language(s) chosen *solved* implementation problems, and what were those problems? Are there any extensions to the language(s) chosen which you would have significantly your implementation in any way? Please e-mail any replies to the address below. If there is enough interest I'll summarise replies. -- Angus Duggan, Department of Computer Science, University of Edinburgh, James Clerk Maxwell Building, The King's Buildings, Mayfield Road, Edinburgh, EH9 3JZ, Scotland, U.K. JANET: ajcd@uk.ac.ed.ecsvax ARPA: ajcd%ed.ecsvax@nss.cs.ucl.ac.uk USENET: ajcd@ecsvax.ed.ac.uk UUCP: ...!mcvax!ukc!ed.ecsvax!ajcd BITNET: ukacrl.earn!ed.ecsvax!ajcd or ajcd%ed.ecsvax@uk.ac
