Message-ID: <900@unmvax.unm.edu> Date: 29 Mar 88 18:32:50 GMT Organization: University of New Mexico at Albuquerque Lines: 18 Keywords: FORTRAN,VAX,VMS,PERFORMANCE I have recently been working on improving the performance of some VMS FORTRAN programs. I have found some really interesting things (for instance: in read(lu)(x(i),i=,) if st is an expression, the compiler generates code for writing one element of x at a time. If st is a constant or a single variable, the compiler generates code for one single write of the appropriate size.). If anyone has any other good info, I would sure apreciate hearing it: it is a real pain to keep generating "machine" listings and looking at the code.
