I was going to keep this under wraps until we could use it a little more. We just rolled our own SCSI disk for a Sun 3/50 using the instructions so generously provided by Tony Dale in the Sun-Spots newsgroup. We used the same parts he used, except that we substituted a Micropolis 1558 for the Micropolis 1355. This gives us 320 MB of formatted storage. The total cost of the project was somewhere between $3000 and $3100 but we did get an educational discount on the drive and controller board. Very soon, I'm going to write up exactly what we purchased, where we got it from, how we put it together, and how we use it. It will be posted to Sun-Spots. I will say that once we did get the parts, the whole thing went together with just a few hours of work.
