    The TCP/IP checksum properties were discussed early in the TCP/IP
    development.  See "TCP Checksum Function Design", IEN45, by Bill
    Plummer of BBN; the data was almost 10 years ago-- June 1978.

Are there references to IEN45 in the IP/TCP/UDP specs? If not, there probably
should be. As someone who once was looking for the definition of the checksum
algorithm, I can say that a pointer to IEN45 would have been useful.
