Would someone please give me a hand if at all possible?

I have a friend who is finishing his masters in history.  He (over my
warnings) composed his thesis on applewriter 2.  He also has a IIc and a
homewriter(Epson  LX80 ),and is using dos 3.3.  He is having trouble with
superscript and with the underlining (getting them to print out).  If any one
knows of a solution (dip switch settings, whatever) please let me know.
