I'd recommend Steve Gibson (InfoWorld columnist)'s new software
for resetting an optimum interleave and re-low-level formatting
hard disks.  It's only $59, and seems to work quite nicely.
According to his argument, this will help keep older hard disks
from crashing and/or losing data.  You can order it directly from
his company (I'm at home and don't have addr/phone no. here).
