Or how big is the Zoom modem? Message-ID: <23426@clyde.ATT.COM> Date: 17 Mar 88 17:58:44 GMT Sender: nuucp@clyde.ATT.COM Reply-To: rcj@clyde.ATT.COM (Curtis Jackson) Organization: AT&T Bell Laboratories, Whippany NJ Lines: 24 I have a Toshiba T1000 laptop, and love it! I've already expanded the memory to 1.2 Mb, and now I'm ready to finish off the package with a modem. I definitely want a 2400 baud modem (or higher if I find a fantastic deal). Unfortunately, there is only one vendor that makes an internal 2400 baud modem that will fit my tiny T1000, and I have three problems with them. The first is that this is a new product for them -- the first ones won't get shipped until probably tomorrow. The second is that I know nothing about the company (Product R&D). The third is the price -- even at a discount through the place where I bought my T1000 it is still $410. The Zoom modem that has been discussed here sounds very nice, and I would be willing to settle for an external modem if it is good quality, a decent price, and *small*. Does anyone know of such an animal? I've been poring through computer shopper and have found good deals on Avatex external 2400 baud modems -- any experience with these. Ideally I'd like to get a pocket 2400 baud modem w/software for under $250. Any help would be very much appreciated -- try to use e-mail and I'll summarize if enough people are interested.
