It's all well and good to attack Apple for its attempt to protect its "proprietary" designs. Have we forgotten the fun clonemakers had trying to come up with something compatible to IBM's "proprietary" BIOS? Are you in the mainframe world not aware of the ferocity with which IBM has defended the "proprietary" nature of its systems software in an attempt to keep third parties from developing performance-boosting software? Has no one noticed the way IBM suggested that PS/2 technology was "proprietary", in the hopes that clonemakers could be kept out of the field? Hey, Apple may not be right, but they haven't invented the game. They're just learning to act like the Incredibly Big Machine Company.
