 Having just got news up on SV/AT, the other side of my connection
 is being innundated with UUXQT completion messages (Exit status 0,
 signal 0) after each rnews batch is completed.

 Is there a way to stop uuxqt from mailing back successful run messages ?

 (or do I have to hack smail to 'gobble' them ? :-)
