I work for a neurophysiology lab, and we are looking for more convenient ways to store our data. Currently we read electrical impulses from neurons, put the signal through a DC amplifier, and save the data on a 4 channel DC tape recorder. This works ok, but I have heard tell that there are setups where you can use your VCR as a tape recorder (and a good one, at that). Can anyone give me any information on any systems like that? Can one store DC signals on a VCR (which I assume are AC)? I have also heard of people using their digital VCRs as a sort of DAT-like system. Would it be feasible to use a system like that to convert our data from analog to digital, and later dumped to a computer for analysis? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please reply by email, as I don't normally read rec.video or sci.misc (though I am an avid fan of rec.audio).
