I've had an AquaClear filter for about three years now.  It runs great
except if I haven't cleaned it for awhile and the electricity goes off.
Even if it goes off for a split second, it just sits there...so I have
to unplug it and clean it out.
As a result, every time I feed the fish, I take a look at the filter to
make sure that it is running and I always make sure that I clean it
before I go away for a few days.
