Look in inside and see if you have the 5.0 ROM.   We have these modems
and had a number of problems.   We called them and they sent us the new
ROM.  This fixed most problems (maybe all, the serial ports on our
machine is sort of weird, so we are never sure if the modem is at
fault or not). 

Out of about 12, we did have one that died completely.
