Summary: Font and character information exchange standard


A six-part standard is being drafted to allow for the intechange of
font and character information: ISO DIS 9541 - Information processing -
Font and character information interchange.

The standard includes procedures of the registration of fonts, and
an organization has been set up to act as registrar.

Information could be obtained from Archie Provan at the Rochester Institute
of Technology.

The standardization work is taking place in the X3V1 Ofiice and Publishing
Systems standards committee, and internationally in the ISO/IEC JTC1/SC18
commitee.
