What is legal ?

If I create a font, styled after Helvetica (tm), I know I cant
call it Helvetica (tm), that trademark is owned by the International
Typeface Corp.

Fine.

But what about names like Bodoni, Bookman, Bocklin, Broadway, Cooper,
Gothic, Raleigh, Lotus, Chicago, Geneva ?

How does one find out about such things ?
