Lines: 43 Keywords: common Pretty wild idea, huh ? Every computer that uses bit-mapped fonts has it's own font file format. Apollo fonts cant be used on Macs, Mac fonts can be used on Amigas etc. One can write conversion programs to convert font format from any computer to any other computer, but as the number of different types of computers goes up, this is a silly idea. /* HP mode on */ What if... ... there was a common standard. Not some god-awful ANSI thing that takes years to develop, nobody likes, and then Dennis says it wont work anyway, but something simple. Like maybe use ascii characters: * * * * * * * ********* * * * * Thus the problem is only to convert one computers format to and from this format and universality is guarenteed between all other computers supporting this.
