That is, when designing a program which gets information from an operator, are there some libraries/utilities that will allow you to build an input screen (on an ordinary terminal ) specifying where the user can enter text and what sort of text is allowed (upper/lower case, numbers, special formats ...) and then allow you to use it from within your program. I have seen something akin to what I want on some products for an IBM-PC but they won't work on our Unix box (HP 9000/840).
