I would appreciate it if someone could summarize the procedure for setting up
a Minix partition on a hard disk, assuming no problems with hardware
compatability.  I haven't been successful, and I suspect it's because I'm
doing something wrong.

I have Minix 1.2 and DOS 3.2 FDISK.
