- State of LATSYM, V2.3 better than VMS V4.7?

What's the current status of bug fixes to LATSYM.  Does anyone know of
a version higher than V2.3 or is the version with VMS V4.7 more stable?
What are the consequences of running LATSYM V1.0 (ie:  from the LATPLUS
release that came with VMS V4.5)?  
Do any sites have a workaround for the "looping symbiont" problem that 
arose with VMS V4.6?
