We are going to get another Ethernet connection (an IBM XT). Our other machine (similar) uses FTP software's PC/TCP package of software. We use it by rote. We need some basic info to determine if it is reasonable to get another package of software for the second node. We want to know if there exists a TEK 4010 emulation program which can access Ethernet. What are one's options in software for Ethernet access? Can any communications package handle the connection? (we have EM4010, a TEK4010 emulator which works over a com port at rates up to 9600 baud [maybe more]) Is it likely that this can be used? I guess the basic question is: Does Ethernet come in thru a comport? Please pardon me if these questions are "simple" or if I've left out necessary details. -- amlovell@phoenix.princeton.edu ...since 1963. disclaimer: These are MY opinions.
