Good question, And I though it was just me that had this |problem! I have an st251, the 1st time my amy boots, it makes a few clicks. |But when I reboot after its been on a while; I get the buzz-saw from hell |sound effect and pray my disk isn't being munged. This is very unnerving. Ok guys, you want more details? When a disk is first started it will move the arm to track 0 , or whatever place it considers the beginning of the disk. That's what produces the noise (depending on the disk there might other initializations that are done, too). So the bottom line is: you'll have to live with the noise, whether you like it or not :-). -- Marco -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= uucp:...!pollux!papa BIX:papa ARPAnet:pollux!papa@oberon.usc.edu "There's Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Diga!" -- Leo Schwab [quoting Rick Unland] -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
