My two cents?  Well, I personally advocate buying from your dealer.
If you are going to buy your Apple //gs system from a dealer then
why not get the color monitor there too?  I'm sure he can provide you
with a listing of alternatives to Apple's own, if you don't want to
buy it (though, I personally own Apple's //gs color monitor and am
highly satisfied with the product).

The reason that I am advocating buying it through your dealer is
the fact that this is a major purchase item, and at least your
dealer (if reputable) will be able to affect repairs on the object
under some close-to-home warranty.  Living overseas for a time, I
had many friends buy monitors from mail-order companies that went
belly-up, and took upwards of 5 months to repair via the same route.
