In response to BBS's running in the background...

Another PD BBS is called Inner Sanctum and I am told it runs in the
background under MT C-Shell and/or RTX.  If you don't know where to get
it, I know the author (John Walker) uploaded it to the BDT BBS
(415) 452-4792.
