Using inband signalling (to borrow a term) doesn't seem quite right, especially since there is no way to send that character (via escaping it or typing it twice, like ~ in rlogin). I am running HPUX 6.0 on a 9000/350, and I want to be able to have more than one things going on at once when I'm logged on through the tty port (and a pair of modems).
