Message-ID: <3944@super.upenn.edu> Date: 5 Apr 88 22:49:25 GMT Sender: news@super.upenn.edu Reply-To: spolsky@eniac.seas.upenn.edu (Joel Spolsky) Organization: University of Pennsylvania Lines: 24 I am trying to connect a micro-VAX 2000 to a PC-Clone. I would like to use the serial ports and connect them directly using twisted-pairs. The computers are about 3000' apart. Can any kind soul please tell me: - which pins on each side need to be connected, - what the maximum distance / speed I could expect with such a connection and 22/24 gauge twisted telephone wires? - finally, does anyone know what kind of connectors I need for each end? Part of the problem is that I've never seen the uVAX so I don't know what kind of connector it takes. (Also where can I get such connectors in a configuration that would allow me to custom build the null-modem cable?) Any and all help is appreciated...
