Windows v. 1 (which was brain-dead) used tiled windows - a significant, if unweildy, difference. Windows V. 2 has a significant difference (enhancement) over Windows V. 1 (and the Mac) - the menu bars run across the TOP OF THE WINDOW, not the top of the screen. Only having one menu bar on the Mac makes true multi-tasking difficult. Windows V. 2 was MS's first shot at the OS/2 presentation manager, and was designed for multi-tasking from the start. When you run an application on Windows 386, it pops up a window with it's own menu bar and the desktop menu bar is still active.
