The process of installing BNET, NFS, and an Apple Ethernet card takes about 15 minutes; maybe 30 minutes the first time. If you haven't done an Ethernet installation before, you may want to wait for the manuals; for reference. In general, the procedures are: 1) Shut the system down. 2) Configure one jumper and install EtherTalk card into NuBus slot. 3) Connect Ethernet cable (from backbone) to Ethernet card. 4) Bring system up into single-user mode. 5) Create BNET/NFS kernel. 6) Modify standard BNET and NFS files. 7) Reboot 8) Test The text files that need to be modified are the standard ones, (/etc/inittab, /etc/hosts, etc.) Before hand, be sure you choose the system's hostname and net address because you'll be asked for it. It's also not a bad idea to make sure that the cable connection actually works (I've been humbled by a bad cable connect before.:-) ). Hope this helps. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Disclaimer: I works heres, buts theys don'ts knows I's cans types. :-) Hernan 'Jackie' Macapanpan amdahl \ Technical Communications/A/UX Hotline pyramid!sun - apple!jackie Apple Computer, Inc.
