I don't know about "Sun's laser printer", but most laser printers are accessed via an RS-232 serial line, for which the ttyserver should be used (get the very latest version from BRL; it's been improved in order to cope with Hewlett-Packard's brain-damaged ideas about RS-232 connections). Imagen printers can optionally be accessed via Ethernet, using the imeserver.
