We all know the truth, but vt100 clones are cheaper that even the cheapest (uh, sorry - least expensive) multi window system - such as X, and so therefore, those that control the money think that cheap is better. If I had some hard proof of how much more productive we could all be, each with our own X system (diskless is fine), we might even stand a chance of getting a few in house for development work - yippie!
