I believe that NYU notes 1.7 bought back most (if not all) of the NYU features. Judging from comments in the code, this included lots of work on the news/notes gateway (an area I spent some time on at Mirror) and the "universal sequencer" (l) key. (E.g., Salkind's name appears in lots of files.) HP notes apparently keeps all the news headers in its database, so that with minor wrappers it can use the common news transport programs.
