I am going to post my version of shar which takes care of most of these things. You have seen some files posting using it already, and those are the ones you can unshar without concatenating. I know all the people who like their editor will be unhappy. It also does the (new style) uuencode and breaks the shar into multiple files for you. All you have to do is mail the parts. My thought is to post it on comp.sources.misc, since the stuff I sent to sources.unix hasn't been posted after 12 weeks(!!) even though it will mean no archiving. Look for it this week.
