Well, it really depends what you want to use the modem for. I use my USR9600HST for running a BBS and also to call BBS's as a hobby. If this is what you will be using the modem for, I see no reason to shell out twice as much for the 9600 baud in the other direction... If you are gonna be calling mainframes, v.32 is probably your better bet.
