I learned the trick of running an unreadable card through the machine anyway. If it spit the card back out, there was more than $2 on it. If it kept it there was less and you could get the card back by cancelling the transaction. The above trick is not well known and may rescue one of you someday. Try putting a Farecard through a credit-card reader. With this I promise to shut up. Dave
