This from somebody crying out for help on the subject, which was when and why I joined this frackus. I came in when you were initially locking horns with Byran. Remember? Now suddenly you know it all. Ever heard of net propagation? I understand your taking exception to my posting, more on that below. > For instance, just a couple of postings ago Harald *implies* (my > interpretation of his posting) that the problem of images breaking up > is an optical illusion that wouldn't occur if viewed in slow motion on > video tape. That was a joke, which should have been obvious, but I guess I'm so obscure, I must include smileys for the rest of us. Not an optical illusion. I wanted proof. I cried for that in 3 postings. What better proof than the "smoking gun". I have NEVER seen any problem using FF now for 2 months. Now all of a sudden, Byran starts saying FF is flawed, but I have never seen any such flaw. What would you think? My reference to frame by frame VCR's, was a very inside joke, since as a videophile, I can't stand flaws in video. I can't stand VHS, I can't stand anything short of a LaserDisk or better. The joke is, FF has NOTHING to do with Amiga video, only the monitor. That's another problem, all I care about is that the Amiga video is pure and clean. I also became alarmed about talk of FF being flawed, since I have never seen it. Wouldn't you? > This demonstrates very thoroughly how little Harald understands > about either the problem, which we've analyzed in painstaking detail, or > probably human perception, too. I presume he *implied* this point, by asking > a question, rather than saying it directly, in order to put the burden > of proof on Bryan, knowing he (Harald) was on thin ice. We're all skating on thin ice, since all concerned have made incorrect statements at one point or another. That includes you and Byran. > No big deal, he's not required to be intelligent or well informed or > to thoroughly read our postings that would help remedy the latter lacks. > Until he tells Bryan to shut up. At which point I take strong exception. > > FLAME OFF. Fine. As far I was concerned, without proof Byran was talking through his hat. My mindset was very simple. (If you don't know what mindset is, you will after reading this) Once again, somebody was badmouthing the Amiga. Ok, you are entitled to your opinion. My response was simply prove it. That's all. So now I get flamed, but nobody has supplied any proof. That's nice. I don't have the time to lay around all day and read news. I work for a living, I have deadlines, I just was trying to help. Thanks for telling me to get F*CKED. You asked. > > Doug Merritt doug@mica.berkeley.edu (ucbvax!mica!doug) > or ucbvax!unisoft!certes!doug And now to why I am bothering to post this at all. First off, I owe Byran an apology. Sorry Byran, but I had to know for sure where you were coming from. Now on to what I learned since uunet started choking the chicken for 4 days. Since uunet was down, and we (ccicpg) had no news feed, I decided call the local BBS's. The first time I have done so in 6 months. I called 77AMIGA (that's (714-772-6442)) and saw a hot demo being raved about from West Germany. It was called INTROS.ARC. A very NICE demo, fantastic music scores, excellent graphics. This was the "smoking gun" demo I pleaded for. This demo makes the flaw in FF VERY apparent. It has a fantastic horizontally scrolling starfield. This appears to make to make the FF defect obvious. The interesting thing is, unlike what Byran said, it takes considerably LESS motion than 1 pixel per 30/sec. Every Amiga demo I have seen doesn't have this kind of motion.
