Well, I'm not sure about ProDOS 16, but I have seen at least five different fakes when it comes to ProDOS 8. The two easiest ways to test your version is to see if the ProDOS 8 "Title Screen" has any lower-case, and if the "bye" command uses something other than the "Enter name of next application, or press return" message. Most pirates (they are the ones that usually change them) don't like the traditional UPPERCASE, and the all-too familar bye command. True, Apple Computer Inc., could have decided to change, but I doubt it. Post more info on your version of ProDOS 8 and 16 to comp.sys.apple, or info-apple, or whatever you newsfeed is called. |--------------------------( Carl Boernecke )-------------------------| Send | UUCP: [crash sdcsvax sdchem ihnp4] !bang!pnet08!pro-avalon!carlb | mail or | ARPA: bang!pnet08!pro-avalon!carlb@sdcsvax.ucsd.edu | replies | INET: pro-avalon!carlb@pnet08.cts.com ProLine [pro-avalon]: | to --> | ProLine: carlb@pro-avalon (619) 271-0131 - 3/12/24 - 24 hrs | |---------------------------------------------------------------------|
