(only 1/2 :-) Many programs, especially graphics programs, call the specific hardware directly, rather than using the 'official' firmware calls (which are usually too slow). This causes compatibility problems. Apple did the same thing when they wrote their modem program (Access). It uses the SSC chip for doing things instead of firmware calls, and crashes when it finds a GS serial port. As for suggestions, try configuring for a //c port (maybe it'll work, who knows), or else try something like 'generic serial card.'
