I guess it really comes down to what you want to use it for. I was the first one that started complaining about the vt100 emulator that came with the 1670 back in late 1985 in this newsgroup. microVT also suffers from the same problem --> they cannot be used with a screen-oriented editor like 'vi' without trashing the screen constantly. At the time I started communicating with Jeff Porter at CBM -- but no improvements (fixes) were ever made (too my knowledge). Over the past several years several people have provided their own termcap/terminfo files that supposedly work with 'vi' -- I have tested them all without success. I still run MEX in the C128 CP/M mode with a slightly modified adm31 terminfo file. I recently started playing around with KERMIT for the C64 (runs with 80 columns) -- this has a VT100 emulator that appears quite good. I am waiting to test out the latest version -- I may end up switching to that. I have also heard that Bob's Proterm has a good VT100 emulator, but I don't feel like paying that kind of money for a terminal program. -- Bill Taggart {uunet | ihnp4}!wp3b01!wjt
