I've successfully used DESQview to do this for the past two years. You can adjust background and foreground time slicing to your taste. There is little degredation with two applications running. And, best of all, DESQview doesn't give a hoot if your software is "well behaved" or not. Frankly, with all the constraints that MS-Windows places on would-be users, I'm surprised that anyone has the patience to stick with it---especially when it doesn't even do the job right!
