(Like that I have been able to put off buying a hard drive, which would cost twice as much, until after I get off my grad student stipend and get a real paycheck.) However, I now find that I have run out of the stack of 360k disks I had formatted before, and DOS FORMAT doesn't work with a foreign drive in the system. The drive was installed per directions - i.e. plug it into the cable but don't change the jumpers, since it isn't a DOS disk. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do? (besides use freecopy a: a: followed by erase a:*.*) If there is a public domain FORMAT that is a bit more robust it would do the trick, as nothing else seems broken. The obvious answer is welcome as well - a way to fix the hardware so that DOS FORMAT works. Please e-mail replies, since I can't keep up with this newsgroup. Will post any answers.
