I could then generate a pair of keys, use StuffIt to compress, encript; then binhex it and upload it, listing the decoding key in the message header. With this method, anyone can decript what I upload, but no one can modify my posting and upload it again. (because they can't reencript the message.) This is what is sometimes known as a digital signature. This would provide some relief against nasty people who like to put viruses in uploaded programs. (Not perfect protection, but still pretty good, don't you think?)
