To avoid getting sued, they obtained a licence from Xerox who developed the original concept a PARC. I'd love to see Apple try to sue Sun, or better yet, I'd love to see Xerox put Apple in its place. Apple deserves alot of credit for popularizing user un-hostileness, but they also deserve to be viewed as what they really are, a company in business to make money. They will use any legitimate means to maintain an edge, even if it restricts the publics access to better technology.
