                              READERSHIP

As part of the Department's continuing expansion plans, the University
invites  applications  for  a  Readership.  Applicants are expected to
have  a  proven  research  record,  preferably   in   new   generation
architectures  and  languages, software engineering, or formal aspects
of computer science and be prepared to face the exciting challenge  of
being a research leader within a dynamic and active department.

The Department's profile includes:

o    active research interests in  parallel computer architectures and
     languages, graphics, methodology, logics, and user-interfaces

o    a substantial PhD programme

o    a SERC-approved Advanced MSc in New Generation Computing

The post is available from the 1st July, 1988, or as soon as  possible
thereafter.  The  appointment  is  on the Senior Lecturer/Reader scale
(20,270 - 22,910).
