Apart from the obvious suggestion about faking them with overstrikes, I just
had a GREAT IDEA!  A lot of phonetic symbols are inverted letters--the best
known example is the "schwa," or inverted "e".

So just specify an "e" in 10-point Roman--at magnification minus-one!
I wish everything in TeX was so easy.		O |-)
